Fringe Whisky Tasting Fundraiser

Hosted by:
Whiskies
on the Fringe!
Hidden beneath the Royal Mile, at the heart of the world’s greatest arts festival, lies The Lost Close - a remarkable underground venue rediscovered during renovation works in 2019. This summer, we’re inviting you to descend into its depths for an exclusive whisky tasting in support of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society’s charitable work.
In partnership with The Lost Close, this special Fringe edition tasting features four rare or limited-edition whiskies – each chosen from independent bottlers and "on the fringe" of the mainstream Scotch scene. Expect quirky casks, bold flavours, and stories that are as surprising as the drams themselves.
Guided by an expert whisky storyteller, you’ll explore the rich history of Scotch whisky, its deep cultural ties to Edinburgh, and learn how to properly nose, taste, and appreciate each unique pour. Whether you're a seasoned collector or simply curious, this experience offers a fresh perspective on Scotland’s national drink — and the Fringe’s spirit of discovery.
This event supports the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society’s mission to ensure access, opportunity, and support for artists and audiences from all backgrounds. Click here to learn more. Visit our website to find out more about our accessibility services.
A Dram with Brian Cox - 12 Aug Only
We’re delighted that Fringe Ambassador, Brian Cox, will join the whisky tasting on 12 August, making this is a special opportunity to join one of Scotland’s foremost actors for a dram.
Seating is split into two areas - one for 6 guests and one for 12. While we can’t guarantee you’ll be seated directly with Brian Cox, our team will do their best to facilitate mingling and ensure all guests enjoy a memorable evening.
Please note that while we fully expect Brian Cox to attend, this is
subject to availability and professional commitments. In the unlikely
event he is unable to join us, the whisky tasting will still go ahead as
a premium fundraising experience supporting the Edinburgh Festival
Fringe Society’s charitable work.
